THE CHINESE COMMUNITY IN THE UNITED KINGDOM.


The Chinese Community has a long History in the United Kingdom since the 17th according to the BBC.  The BBC goes on to state that its one on the oldest people to be believed to have entered Britain. The Chinese Sailors arrived in London with India Company Ships around 1782.
Pennyfields and Limehouse causeway near the docks is were they settled in. In some documents it is stated that by the end of the 19th Century, the population was above 500. 
The Chinese in London have their schools and community Centers that give support and diversify their culture here in Britain. Its to these growth that the Chinese have formed their own “small” town in London; the China Town around East End’s Lime House district in the 1880s. These have provided care for the old has mostly stay in Lime House Area.  Early Chinese Sunday school, Street names and eating-places is an icon of Chinese presence in Britain.

In these progress a second major population came in Britain fro China in 1960s. These was due to political factors has Hong Kong laid off Chinese Agricultural workers. These population mostly stayed in Soho and Baywater (modern China Town). The Westminster City Council has changed China Town to a Major tourist attraction.
The relationship between China and UK has improved. In the recent past, China hosted the 2008 Olympic games and handed over the baton to London.
