THE LEARNING – U.K AND KENYA CONNECTION.
Nairobi school for British

Kenya being a British Colony since 1895-1963 mostly referred as Kenya Colony. Its undoubtedly borrows most of its “white” Culture from Britain. It’s widely visible in a number of aspects like Its First Language (English), Being a Common Wealth Member and fighting for the British government during the Second World War.  Without leaving the education system that majorly Uses English as compulsory Language of Learning in Kenya, it’s the basic common similarity with Britain, thus creating a connection bond between the Two Countries. I am to going show the Similarities and the disconnection of the two Education systems in their given different levels in this article.

According to the Ministry of education of Kenya at www.education.go.ke the body that governs the education Matters in Kenya. The government of Kenya passed a law in 1985 that established the 8-4-4 system in Kenya. Which meant that; Eight years of Primary School, Four Years at Secondary school and Four Years at Tertiary College. The Primary school begins at the age of 6 or 7, for most of the people in Kenya.  In a year there is a  3 terms that are divided in to 3 months section each with a 1 moth break between them. The educational year begins in January. The Pupils (Students) Take a maximum of Five Subjects; Mathematics, English, Kiswahili, Science and Social Studies. The Narc government in introduced the free primary education as part of 2015 millennium goal. Making the primary Education free, Most of people who could not afford the education became enrolled. Making Mr. Kimani Maruge the oldest Pupil in the World at the age of 78 in the2010 movie based on a true story by BBC films directed by Justin Chudwick.  Most of the pupil proceeds to Secondary school that takes Four years and a tertiary education for another four years. Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) is responsible in setting up National Exams that are taken in the end of the year. www.education.go.ke

Un Like in Kenya the Education System is different in many aspects. The lack of a central governing body in the U.K to oversee the education in the UK Makes one of the difference. In  England for instance the education body is controlled by the Department of Education according to www.education.gov.uk. The full time learning is a mandatory for all the Children of ages 16 and below. The educational system in England begins in September 1st as stated at the website.  The school follows the National Curriculum that consists of 12 Subjects that are required compulsory by to the pupils. The welsh Nation government is responsible in governance of school Curriculum and asses the school educational routine according to an article in their website on www.wales.gov.uk . The Scottish government has the mandate take charge of the education system in Scotland for instance, in the 1980 Act (Education) Scotland; the parliament was given the overall authority in Education system. This can is illustrated at their website at www.scotland.gov.uk. In Ireland the Irish has a body that governs the educational System that is called the North Ireland Executive Department of Education (DENI). The Council for the Curriculum Examination and Assessment (CCEA) is responsible for setting out national exams. Their Curriculum is based on that of England and Wales.
With these in Mind the Main different of lack of a central governing body for education in the UK makes a disconnection between the two countries, as suggested in the article.
